Issue

Alarms or Events are not being received as soon as they occur and there is a large delay before they are written the Database.

Environment

Continuum

Cause

Tracked the Alarms down to some Infinet controllers off of a BCX1-INF. Reviewing the controller error log from this showed a lot of 6c0e errors indicating the comms buffers were filling up (see Lessons Learned Article #7662).

Another indicator was when reviewing the ACCTRace logs it was found that the Alarms were being logged in the Database when the WS thread was receiving them. The time in the ACCtrace was what was being logged as the TimeOfLog.

Investigated the programming on the bCX1-INF and found that it was polling data from a bcx1-CR (BACnet) controller constantly. There was no delay in these poll requests which is what was overloading the controllers comms buffers. This in turn was delaying some Alarms from being delivered to the Workstation to be displayed and logged in the Database.

Resolution

Fixed up the programming in the bCX1-INF controller so that there were wait lines between each poll it was attempting from the bCX1-CR controller. Also see Lessons Learned Article #7662.
