For various reasons it may be necessary at times to change a b3's Device ID to avoid a duplicate.
Automation Server - AS
Once a b3 is added to the network its Device ID can not be changed as seen in the screen shot below.
The reason for this is that the device id is used in references to the device as well as objects contained in the device, once the id is changed such references will become orphans.
To give the b3 a different Instance/Device Object ID the b3 must be deleted from the MSTP in the SmartStruxure database.
1. Delete the b3 from under the MSTP network. (write down the b3's serial number, MAC id, model name, BACnet name before deleting it)
NOTE: Before deleting the b3 make sure you have a method of re-creating its contents such as XML files created via export.
2. Re-create the b3 manually using its serial number and enter the new device id.
3. Commission or download the b3 to get the new ID to take effect.
4. Re-create any objects saved in step 1
Any references to the device will be lost and must be re-created using the new object id.
