Issue

How to change the default SMTP port in Vista 5.1.5 running on 64-bit operating systems

Environment

Window 7 64-bit

Windows 2008 server 64-bit

Vista 5.1.5

Cause

The registry key that allows the SMTP port to be changed is located in a different folder when running 64-bit operating systems.

Resolution

  1. Open the registry editor. Start\run and then type regedit
  2. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\TAC AB\TAC Vista\5.1.5\SMTP and locate the entry named Port.
  3. Double click on this entry and change it to the desired port number.
  4. Click OK.

(The Wow6432Node folder is a folder that contains information about 32-bit applications being run on 64-bit operating systems).
