Unable to Run WebStation on Windows Server 2008

Environment

  • Vista Webstation 5.1.6
  • IIS
  • ASP.net

Cause

IIS 7 and ASP.net must be installed before Vista Server in order for Webstation to function

Resolution

  1. Uninstall Vista Server as outlined in Lessons Learned Article #4595
  2. Install IIS 7 and ASP.net
    1. Start the Server Manager
    2. Right-click Roles
    3. Click Add roles
    4. Select Web Server (IIS)
    5. In the following dialog click Add Required Features
    6. Click Next (twice)
    7. Select ASP.net
    8. In the following dialog click Add Required Role Services
    9. Click Next
    10. Click Install
  3. Install TAC Vista Server
  4. Install TAC Vista Webstation
  5. As administrator, Run the ASP.NET IIS Registration Tool (Aspnet_regiis.exe) for ASP.NET version 4.0
    1. %SystemRoot%\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\aspnet_regiis.exe -i -enable
    2. 64-bit OS: %SystemRoot%\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v4.0.30319\aspnet_regiis.exe -i -enable
